MEF2, a member of the MADS box family, is mainly involved in muscle differentiation, but also plays roles in muscle hypertrophy, neuronal survival and T-cell apoptosis. MEF2 is activated by both the p38 and ERK5 pathways. TransAM MEF2 Kits contain an antibody specific for the active form of MEF2 when bound to its target DNA. Because of MEF's regulation by MAPK, we also offer the TransAM MAPK Family Kit for studying the MAPK regulated transcription factors ATF-2, c-Jun, c-Myc, MEF2 and STAT1α.
Applications
- Drug screening and/or potency studies
- Studies of inhibitor or activator proteins
- Protein structure/function studies in the MEF2 signaling pathway

The TransAM MAPK Family Kit was used to assay the activation levels of ATF-2, c-Myc, c-Jun, STAT1α and MEF2 using nuclear extracts prepared from either HeLa (TPA stimulated), Jurkat (unstimulated), K-562 (TPA stimulated) or U-937 (TPA + IFNγ treated) cells.
