GAPDH Whole-cell Normalization Kit (for mouse)

optimized protein normalization in a convenient format

Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) is well known as one of the key enzymes involved in glycolysis. The GAPDH gene is constitutively expressed at high levels in almost all tissues. Because of this, GAPDH is widely used as a loading control for Northern/Western blots and protein normalization.

The GAPDH Whole-cell Normalization Kit provides a simple, sensitive and accurate method for protein normalization in a ready-to-use format by utilizing the “Sandwich ELISA” technique for detection, which uses two antibodies that each recognize different epitopes on the protein being studied (Figure 1). The kit is designed specifically to capture and quantifiably measure the amount of GAPDH in mouse and rat samples. The kit is not recommended for normalization of human samples, and due to the differences in GAPDH levels across species, the kit should only be used for normalizing samples of the same species.

The GAPDH Whole-cell Normalization Kit measures the amount of GAPDH present in cellular extracts or fluid samples. It rapidly provides quantifiable results using a standard curve that is easily generated with the included GAPDH standard. The kit can detect nanogram quantities of GAPDH in samples. The amount of GAPDH per well can then be used to normalize assay results to GAPDH.

The GAPDH Normalization Kit advantages

  • Multiple samples can be analyzed in low-volume, high-throughput experiments
  • Complete Lysis Buffer and protocol is provided for making cellular extracts
  • Quantitative analysis is complete in just hours
  • Enables assaying and normalizing samples without the need to perform a protein quantification
