Recombinant pRb is suitable for protein-protein interaction, in vitro function studies including transcription and DNA binding assays and cell growth assays. 1-5 ng is sufficient for gelshift assays in a 20 µl volume, 50 ng is sufficient for reconstituted transcription assays and 100 ng is sufficient for protein-protein interaction assays. The molecular weight of the protein is ~105 kDa. NOTE: The presence of Poly [d(I-C)] in buffers may affect protein functionality and should be avoided.

The wild-type pRb protein was expressed in a baculovirus system (accession number NM 000321) with an amino terminal polyhistidine tag and purified by an affinity column in combination with FPLC chromatography. The purified recombinant protein is greater than 95% homogeneous and contains no detectable protease, DNase and RNase activity.
