for Recombinant MAX protein, activeBackground
Max protein, isoform b (also known as Myc associated factor X or MGC10775) belongs to a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLHZ) family of transcription factors. Other family members include Mad, Mxi1, and Myc, which bind the E box DNA site 5’-CAC(GA)TG-3’. c-Myc and Mad form heterodimers with Max to regulate transcription. Mad-Max heterodimers are associated with transcriptional activation, while Myc-Max heterodimers are associated with transcriptional activation. This variant lacks an in-frame segment, resulting in a shorter protein known as isoform b.
for Recombinant MAX protein, activeApplication Notes
Recombinant MAX protein is suitable for use in in vitro transcription assays. We recommended to start with a range of protein concentrations (e.g. 5 ng, 50 ng, and 500 ng) to determine the optimal amount needed for each in vitro transcription assay.
for Recombinant MAX protein, activeProtein Details
Recombinant MAX protein was expressed in E. coli as the full-length human protein (accession number NP_660087) with an N-terminal FLAG tag. The molecular weight of the protein is ~18 kDa.
