3T3-L1 nuclear extract was prepared from cell cultures of the mouse embryonic preadipocyte 3T3-L1 cell line. This cell line is derived from the original 3T3-Swiss albino cell line and has a fibroblast-like morphology. However, under appropriate conditions, 3T3-L1 cells are capable of differentiating into an adipocyte-like phenotype and are responsive to lipogenic and lipolytic hormones and drugs. These cells are commonly used as an in vitro model of adipocytes and in studies related to obesity and metabolic diseases.
