for MDA-MB-231 nuclear extractBackground
MDA-MB-231 nuclear extract was prepared from cell cultures of the human breast adenocarcinoma MDA-MB-231 cell line. The MDA-MB-231 cell line was derived from a pleural effusion of a 51 year old Caucasian female with an intraductal carcinoma. Although MDA-MB-231 cells are epithelial in morphology, they display a mesenchymal-like/ER-negative/ERBB2-negative phenotype. These cells are characterized by the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and transforming growth factor α receptor (TGFRα). EGFR and TGFR are receptors that are most commonly associated with human tumorigenesis. Interestingly, although MDA-MB-231 cells express EGFR, they lack a proliferative response to EGF. MDA-MB-231 cells are most frequently used in research as a model for breast adenocarcinoma.

MDA-MB-231 nuclear extract is specifically recommended for breast cancer studies.
for MDA-MB-231 nuclear extractExtract Origin
Human breast adenocarcinoma mammary gland
for MDA-MB-231 nuclear extractExtract Composition
MDA-MB-231 nuclear extract is supplied in Dilution Buffer (20 mM Hepes (pH 7.9), 100 mM KCl, 1 mM MgCl2, 20% glycerol, 0.5 mM PMSF and 0.5 mM DTT).
for MDA-MB-231 nuclear extractQuality Control
Extracts have been quality control tested by Western blot and the Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA).
for MDA-MB-231 nuclear extractStorage
To ensure stability, extracts should be stored at -80°C.
We recommend aliquoting the extracts into single-use fractions and then storing them at -80°C. This eliminates repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
