for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Background
AP-2 (activator protein 2 or AP2) transcription factors activate transcription and regulate gene expression during embryogenesis. There are four different isoforms of AP-2 (AP-2α, AP-2β, AP-2γ and AP-2δ). The family members share a common structure in which the N-terminal region is involved with transcriptional activation and the C-terminal region is involved in DNA binding.
for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Immunogen
This AP-2 antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 120-134 of human AP-2.
for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Application Notes
This AP-2 antibody has been validated for use in Western blotting (1:500 - 1:1,000 dilution). For optimal results, primary antibody incubations should be performed overnight at 4°C. The addition of 0.1% Tween 20 to all Blotto solutions may also reduce background. Individual optimization may be required.
for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Buffer
PBS containing 0.2% gelatin, 0.01% thimersol and 0.1% sodium azide. Thimersol and sodium azide are highly toxic.
for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Positive Control
Active Motif's JEG-3 nuclear extract (Catalog No. 36012) can be used as a positive control for AP-2 antibody.
AP-2 pAb tested by Western blot.
Detection of AP-2 by Western blot analysis. Activator protein 2 (AP-2) can be detected in JEG-3 nuclear extract using AP-2 rabbit polyclonal antibody at a 1:1,000 dilution (lane 1). The signal corresponding to nuclear AP-2 is eliminated by adding the immunizing peptide to the reaction (lane 2).
for AP-2 antibody (pAb)Storage
Antibodies in solution can be stored at -80°C for 2 years. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.
