for CARM1 antibody (pAb)Background
CARM1 (Coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 or CARM 1) is a protein arginine N-methyltransferase that catalyzes the mono- and asymmetric dimethylation of arginine residues in its substrate proteins. It serves as a coactivator of transcription and also plays a role in nuclear receptors. CARM1 methylates histone H3 at Arg2, Arg17 and Arg26; it also methylates a number of non-histone substrates involved in the regulation and mechanism of gene expression.
for CARM1 antibody (pAb)Immunogen
This CARM1 antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of mouse CARM1.
for CARM1 antibody (pAb)Application Notes
This CARM1 antibody has been validated for use in Western blotting (1:250 - 1:1,000 dilution). For Western Blot, it is essential to use 0.05% Tween 20 in the blocking buffer, the primary antibody and the secondary antibody incubation buffers. This antibody detects CARM1 as a doublet, and the relative abundance of the two forms varies depending upon cell type and the sub-cellular compartment analyzed. Both bands disappear in CARM1 knockout MEF cells.
