Argonaute 4 (Ago4, aka EIF2C4) is a member of the Argonaute family of proteins involved in RNAi mediated gene silencing through siRNA and miRNA effectors. The Argonaute proteins are part of RISC, the RNAi Induced Silencing Complex. Ago4 lacks RNase activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNA molecules. It binds to microRNAs (miRNAs) and represses the translation of mRNAs which are complementary to them. Ago4 has both a PAZ and a PIWI domain, indicative of the Argonaute family of proteins.

Some isotypes of mouse IgG antibodies do not bind well to protein G-conjugated agarose/magnetic beads, which are commonly used in ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments. Capture efficiency can be improved by including an anti-mouse IgG bridging antibody because it binds with a strong affinity to both the protein G beads and the mouse IgG antibody. By increasing the affinity of the mouse primary antibody for the protein G bead, the Bridging Antibody for Mouse IgG can help improve the results of all ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments that use Ago4 antibody (mAb).
