for Estrogen Receptor-alpha antibody (mAb) (Clone F3)Background

ER-α (estrogen receptor α) is a ligand-activated transcription factor composed of several domains important for hormone binding, DNA binding and activation of transcription. ER-α localizes to the nucleus where it may form a homodimer or a heterodimer with estrogen receptor 2. Estrogen and its receptors are essential for sexual development and reproductive function, but also play a role in other tissues such as bone. Estrogen receptors are also involved in pathological processes including breast cancer, endometrial cancer and osteoporosis.

for Estrogen Receptor-alpha antibody (mAb) (Clone F3)Immunogen

This ER-alpha antibody was raised against a peptide within the C-terminal region of human Estrogen Receptor alpha.

for Estrogen Receptor-alpha antibody (mAb) (Clone F3)Application Notes

This ER-α has been validated for use in EMSA, chromatin IP (ChIP), immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation and Western blotting. See references for more details.

Active Motif's T-47D nuclear extract (Catalog No. 36027) can be used as a positive control for ER-α antibody.

Chromatin IP Assays

Active Motif has a variety of Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Kits for every need.

Bridging Antibody to Improve ChIP, MeDIP and IP

Some isotypes of mouse IgG antibodies do not bind well to protein G-conjugated agarose/magnetic beads, which are commonly used in ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments. Capture efficiency can be improved by including an anti-mouse IgG bridging antibody because it binds with a strong affinity to both the protein G beads and the mouse IgG antibody. By increasing the affinity of the mouse primary antibody for the protein G bead, the Bridging Antibody for Mouse IgG can help improve the results of all ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments that use Estrogen Receptor α antibody (mAb).

Compatible Secondary Antibodies

Active Motif has developed a variety of high-quality secondary antibodies for most applications, with anti-rabbit and anti-mouse conjugates to a broad line of high-quality fluorescent molecules, as well as horse radish peroxidase (HRP). Visit our Secondary Antibody Conjugates page to find the perfect secondaries for immunofluorescence experiments with Estrogen Receptor α antibody (mAb).
