for ASPM / MCPH5 antibody (pAb)Background

ASPM (abnormal spindle-like microcephaly associated, microcephaly primary type 5, MCPH5) is a protein that participates in spindle organization, spindle positioning and cytokinesis in all dividing cells. ASPM / MCPH5 localizes to centrosomes, spindle poles, and the spindle midbody. It regulates the orientation of the mitotic spindle, which controls whether cells divide symmetrically or asymmetrically. ASPM / MCPH5 is highly expressed in many tumor cell lines and mutations in the gene encoding ASPM / MCPH5 lead to primary microcephaly in humans.
