The addition of 0.05% Tween 20 in the blocking buffer and primary antibody incubation buffer is recommended to aid in detection by Western blot. Individual optimization may be required.

Note: many chromatin-bound proteins are not soluble in a low salt nuclear extract and fractionate to the pellet. Therefore, we recommend a High Salt / Sonication Protocol when preparing nuclear extracts for Western Blot.


This PGC1-β antibody antibody was raised against a peptide within the N-terminal region of human PGC1-β.


Purified IgG in 70 mM Tris (pH 8), 105 mM NaCl, 31 mM glycine, 0.07 mM EDTA, 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.

PGC1-β (Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-beta, PPARGC1B, PERC) is a co-activator of transcription by nuclear receptors and transcription factors. PGC1-β participates in modulating the transcriptional activity of PPAR alpha and gamma, ER alpha, NRF1 and GR. It is likely involved in fat oxidation, non-oxidative glucose metabolism and in the regulation of energy expenditure. Expression of PGC1-β is repressed by saturated fatty acids in skeletal muscle cells and induced by insulin. PGC1-β is down-regulated in type 2 diabetes as well as in pre-diabetics. Allelic variation of PGC1-β may contribute to the pathogenesis of obesity, with the widespread Ala-203 variation being a significant risk factor for the development of this diabetes.

Positive Control

Active Motif's K-562 nuclear extract (Catalog No. 36015) can be used as a positive control for PGC1-β antibody.


Some products may be shipped at room temperature. This will not affect their stability or performance. Upon receipt, unconjugated antibodies may be stored at -20°C for up to 2 years. Fluorophore- & enzyme-conjugated antibodies should be stored at 4°C. Fluorophore-conjugated antibodies should be protected from light. Keep reagents on ice when not in storage; to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting items that will be stored frozen into single-use fractions prior to freezing.
