This APOBEC2 antibody was raised against a peptide derived from the N-terminal region of human APOBEC2.


Purified IgG in 70 mM Tris (pH 8), 105 mM NaCl, 31 mM glycine, 0.07 mM EDTA, 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.

Nuclear extract (20 µg) of L6E9 cells (Lane 1) or nuclear extract (20 µg) of C2C12 cells (Lane 2) probed with APOBEC2 antibody at a 1:2,000 dilution.


APOBEC2 (Apolipoprotein B mRNA-editing enzyme catalytic subunit 2) is part of a family of enzymes that edit nucleic acids, possibly changing cytosine to uracil. APOBEC2 expression is regulated by TNF-α via NFκB activation and this suggests a possible role for APOBEC2 in the pathophysiology of hepatic inflammation. APOBEC2 has a low intrinsic cytidine deaminase activity and is also involved in DNA demethylation. APOBEC2 deaminates 5-methylcytosine, followed by base excision repair by Mbd4.

Fluorophore- & enzyme-conjugated antibodies should be stored at 4°C. Fluorophore-conjugated antibodies should be protected from light. Keep reagents on ice when not in storage; to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting items that will be stored frozen into single-use fractions prior to freezing.
