Active Motif's Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail is designed to protect phosphoproteins from dephosphorylation during lysis and extraction procedures from mammalian cells or tissues and for immunoprecipitation and kinase assays. The cocktail is provided as a ready-to-use broad-spectrum solution of inhibitors targeting both serine/threonine phosphatases and protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). The product is supplied as a 100X concentrated stock solution in a liquid format for improved accuracy, solubility, and ease of use in comparison to traditional tablets. The Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail is a broad-spectrum solution of phosphatase inhibitors specific for serine/threonine as well as protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). It has been optimized and tested for use with mammalian cell and tissue extract samples. It is recommended to use 10 µl of the Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail solution to inhibit dephosphorylation of proteins for 1 ml of lysate. Since phosphatase levels may vary among cell and tissue types, it may be necessary to increase the concentration of inhibitors. The cocktail does not contain protease inhibitors. If necessary, protease inhibitors can be added to cell and tissue lysates. The inhibitor solution may not be compatible with immobilized metal chelate affinity chromatography and 2D gel electrophoresis. However, inhibitor components can be removed by dialysis or desalting prior to performing such procedures if necessitated.

The Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail is provided as a ready-to-use 100X stock solution in DMSO. The product is shipped at room temperature and should be stored at -20°C long-term. The Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail is guaranteed stable for 6 months when stored properly.
