Immunogen

This PAX7 antibody was raised against a peptide derived from mouse PAX7.

Buffer

Purified IgG in 70 mM Tris (pH 8), 105 mM NaCl, 31 mM glycine, 0.07 mM EDTA, 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.

Background

PAX7 (Paired-box protein 7, PAX7) is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. These proteins are DNA binding transcriptional activators and typically contain a paired box domain, an octapeptide, and a paired-type homeodomain. These genes play critical roles during mammalian development and cancer growth. The specific function of the PAX7 gene is unknown but speculated to play a role in myogenesis. PAX7 is involved in the specification of satellite cells in skeletal muscle. PAX7 can bind to DNA as a heterodimer with Pax-3.
