Background
DDX17 (Probable ATP-dependent RNA helicase DDX17) is a multifunctional DEAD-box RNA helicase that plays critical roles in various aspects of RNA metabolism, including transcription, pre-mRNA splicing, and miRNA processing. It is a key regulator of gene expression, often acting as a transcriptional coactivator for nuclear receptors and other transcription factors. Furthermore, DDX17 is involved in innate immune signaling by sensing viral RNA and promoting the interferon response. Its functions in maintaining genomic stability and facilitating the biogenesis of small RNAs underscore its importance in fundamental cellular processes, and its dysregulation is associated with cancers and other diseases.
